Need an Editor?

If you need an editor, you’re in the correct place!

While I am mostly known for my writing and art, I’ve been doing developmental and line edits for folks for two decades now. I often find issues that others miss, and I’ve been told I’m incredibly “thorough” and “detail oriented.” I’m also that annoying person who picks up a brand new released hardback and immediately spots the error on page one. It’s a handy trick, so let me help you.

So what are my qualifications?

I have:

  • 3 decades worth of experience editing & critiquing colleagues’ works, including books later published by major publishers
  • Bachelor of Science in English Education
  • Created or participated in 100+ workshops, lectures, and panels on the craft of writing, editing, & publishing
  • Taught large group (think 850+) and small group writing workshops
  • Taught adults and kids, with 13 years’ teaching experience in public schools

If you’re looking for editing or even writing coaching, my rates are comparable to the average rates listed on the Editorial Freelancers Association website.

EDITING

Because there are different types of editing, my rates vary depending upon the type.

LINE EDITS$0.01/word; Minimum $150
DEVELOPMENTAL EDITS$0.03+/word; Minimum $750

While I can do copyediting, I don’t like it as much so I don’t offer this service. If a work needs extensive edits, the rates will go up accordingly.

Not sure?

If you’re unsure whether or not to hire me, I can do a short sample edit (2-3 pages) so we can figure out whether we’re a good fit. If you like the sample, we can work out the rest.

COACHING

Having trouble with your manuscript? Not sure where to begin? Let’s chat. Writing coaching rates are as follows:

$65/hour; Minimum $90

BOOK FORMATTING

I’m also excellent at interior and exterior book formatting. If you’ve decided to self publish but don’t want to go through the hassle of creating the print and/or ebook files for the various distributors, leave it to me!

Standard eBook formatting$150
Complex or image heavy eBook files$300
Standard print formatting$300
Complex or image heavy print files$500+

If your files have a lot of images and custom headers, etc., we may need to chat more to get an accurate quote.
